The closure of these sites is a major inflection point.

When that pipeline slows or stops, people don’t just wait — they fall out of the system entirely. That’s when you start seeing exactly what’s being reported now: prolonged limbo overseas, detention in the U.S., and real risk of return.

This is what it looks like when priorities shift in immigration policy.

Tnx for your weekly update. Just wanted to let you know that, due to the GOP Mega bill (H.R.1) enacted July 4th - federal SNAP benefits for legally present immigrants starting Nov 1, 2025. That includes refugees, asylees, humanitarian parolees, victims of human trafficking and domestic violence. Afghans who were not able to achieve LPR status are among those losing SNAP. Some states like CA DSS were able to delay implementation of the SNAP (aka CalFresh) cut, but most states implemented the fed cuts starting 11/1/25. Roughly 9,600 legally present immigrants in MA alone are losing SNAP as their cases come up for SNAP recertification. This is just unconscionable.
